Part 8: Hong Kong - Macau Trip Day 3 - Macau Tour Part 1 (Venetian Hotel, Senado Square, Ruins of St. Paul's)

Let's now tour Macau!

Arrival in Macau

Upon arrival in Macau via ferry, we still need to fall in line with the immigration.  It took us around 1 to 1.5 hrs to finish it.  Just as I am done with the immigration when I realized I left something in the ferry.  The immigration officer was very helpful, we went back to the ferry to get what I left.  Whew!  I'm very excited for our day 3 yipeee!  The best four days of our Macau and Hong Kong holidays!  Couldn't ask for more. :)

Macau Tour Part 1

The blame is on me.  Our first stop was supposedly Grand Prix Museum and all along I thought it's just walking distance from the Macau Ferry Terminal.  Yeah it is actually.  But we got lost again. Haha.  So there. But you can go to Grand Prix Museum for your first stop.  You can ride bus no. 3, 10, 10B, 28A, 28B, 1A if you plan on going to Grand Prix Museum.

First Stop - Venetian Macao Resort Hotel

We went back to Macau Ferry Terminal to ride a free bus to Venetian Hotel.   You just hop in, seat back and wait until the bus moved to Venetian Hotel.

Venetian Hotel's Bus

Macau Bridge taken from the bus

Venetian Hotel has always been part of itinerary of people visiting Macau.  The Italian inspired architecture of the place, the ceiling, the hallway are all part of your tour inside this luxury hotel depicting the scenery of Venice, Italy.

The entrance, huge hallway.

The man-made ceiling.  When I was younger, I thought this is an open hotel and the sky is because of a very  good weather. I realized I was wrong after some research on the hotel.

my travel buddies in a romantic place

You can also try their indoor gondola ride along this man-made river.

There are bunch of expensive stores out here.

From wikipedia, the gondola is a traditional, flat-bottomed Venetian rowing boat, well suited to the conditions of the Venetian lagoon.

Another great ceiling near casino.

We also checked out the casino. Cameras are not allowed in the casino.  Most of us are not really into it, so we just roam around, try to play small amount once for the experience and get some free bottled water. Hehe. We're not sure how to get to our second stop so we rode Venetian Hotel's free bus going back to Macau Ferry Terminal.

Notes: We ate in McDonalds in Venetian Hotel for our brunch.

Second & Third Stop - Largo Do Senado / Senado Square & Ruínas de São Paulo /Ruins of St. Paul's

As soon as we arrived in Macau Ferry Terminal, we went to the bus terminal and rode Bus no. 3A

Macau Bus 3A  Route From Macau Ferry Terminal
1.   Maritime Ferry Terminal Bus Terminus / Jetfoil
2.   Av. Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Av. Amizade / Sands Casino
3.   Fishermen's Wharf
4.   Av. Dr. Sun Yat-sen, Macao Culture Centre
5.   Kun Iam Statue
6.   Blood Donate Centre
7.   Wynn Resort
8.   Praca de Ferreira do Amaral Bus Terminus (Hotel Lisboa)
9.   Av. Infante D. Henrique, Pacapio / Macao Square
10. Av. Alm. Ribeiro, Largo do Senado

The A icon is the Largo do Senado

We're supposed to drop off at Avenida Almeira Ribeiro but we missed it, so we unloaded the bus at the next bus stop.  As I've said in my previous post, you need to prepare exact amount when riding a bus here in Macau.  We paid 3.2 MOP each for the bus ride. We still need to walk to reach Senado Square.

We're here after 5 minutes of walk!

We took some pictures then we just followed where the people are going.

Our next destination was to see Ruins of St. Paul's, one of the famous tourist spot in Macau, but what seemed to excite us was  lot of shops here selling beef jerky, egg tart, souvenir shops and more. Imagine on each store we checked they do have free taste of beef jerky or pork.  You can eat it just like that, it is pre-cooked already.  Now I understand why people from travel forums do tell us to bring rice or bread! Free taste palang, busog ka na, hahanap ka talaga ng kanin!

We were busy selecting souvenir items, pasalubong and a lot more.

After few minutes of  food & souvenir hunting we're really tired as we walked along the street.  We're getting to our next destination. Hooray!

Ruins of St. Paul's

From wikipedia, Ruins of St. Paul's is built from 1582 to 1602 by the Jesuits, the cathedral was one of the largest Catholic churches in Asia at the time, and the royalty of Europe vied with each other to bestow upon the cathedral the best gifts. It was destroyed by a fire during a typhoon in 1835.

As typical tourists, we took pictures of ourselves with this stone facade structure, take rest, pasalubong hunting again, and continue exploring. :)

I've never been to Macau but I've been to the Venetian in Las Vegas and naaalala ko na manghang-magha ako dun sa ceiling na painted as if it was the sky. Parang nasa labas ka lang hehe. I hope to see the Macau version someday.

May part sya na parang Chinatown sa Binondo. Or baka un lang ang tingin ko. Ung St. Paul Ruins ang ganda ng pagkakaruin nya natira lang talaga ung facade ng church.

Mukhang masarap yung beef jerky, hehe... St.Paul Church Ruins yata ang pinaka-landmark brand ng Macau, kakaiba talaga kasi ang structure na narita mula sa sunog. Yun bang tatak-Macau yung casino landmarks kasi Las Vegas talaga yan.
