Witnessing the biggest and brightest fireworks show in Asia, the Philippine International Pyromusical Competition, has been the most awaited event in SM Mall of Asia every first quarter of the year. It is now on it's 3rd year, and I was lucky to see the actual fireworks upclose last saturday featuring United Kingdom and Spain.
Philippine International Pyromusical Competition 2012 already started last Feb 11 featuring Malta and South Korea. Last Feb 18, it was UK and Spain's turn to showcast their eye popping display of fireworks and also my chance to shoot the said event.
For those who are not yet aware of the schedule and wanted to watch the show, here's the link of schedule of different countries participating the competition and the ticket prices. Part of the presenters are Close-up & Samsung Galaxy Note, Tanduay & Yamaha, in cooperation with Platinum Fireworks and Department of Tourism. Major sponsors are FOX International Channels and McDonalds, official residence Microtel MOA, and media partner, Philippine Daily Inquirer.
It's already around 630pm when we headed to the spacious VIP section to watch the fireworks show. I highly suggest to scout a location and be early especially if you wanted to join the photocontest where you can win Php15000 worth of GC. (click here for more info).

My only focus for that night was to just shoot upclose, as I think I still need to learn and practice a lot on shooting good fireworks, then I might try other perspective some other time. I also learned from friends that it's better to shoot fireworks with a remote so I ordered one. Unfortunately it wasn't delivered on time so I'll just trust my fingers on clicking hehe.
The first country to show off for that particular night was United Kingdom courtesy of SM Art PyroTechnics LTD. They experience some difficulties at start but still, it was worth the wait. Great burst of colors especially the last part. I just wished they chose a better song but nevertheless, in the eyes of everyone, the magical experience of every fireworks is always priceless and beautiful.
Last but not the least would be Spain via Turis Fireworks Inc. I heard Spain is good, and yes, they were applauded a lot of times. There were some boring part but recovered on the half until last minutes of the fireworks show. I was shouting as well hehe.
The crowd is huge, but because SM Mall of Asia extends their mall hours until 11pm that night, you can still roam around if you want to avoid traffic jams.
my bad shot though I still like the silhoutte effect on it.
Needless to say, I need more practice pa. :)

AY inggit ako. gusto ko magpunta dito . Tsk
Girl. I think ganyan talaga effect ng fireworks na yan (last pic). Sakin din puro blurry yung ganyang kulay. Love ur pics! :D
siguro yung effect ng being too close sa fireworks yung masyadong exposed yung shots.
and i agree, you need to be very early para sa good spot. pwesto na yung tripod then kain ng dinner for free. hihi
Chyng, just set your aperture to about f11 to f16 para di underexposed yung shot kahit medyo matagal exposure mo :)
Ang ganda ng shots and I like the photo of the ferris wheel. :)
I was also there during this day.
panalo ang shots mo CA. astig :)
the silhouette effect is what i want to achieve in shooting fireworks, na hindi ko magawa dahil lagi akong sa seawall nakaupo hehehe. i better upgrade to VIP to be at the center and achieve what you did with the foreground, gusto ko yung shots mo!!!
love the 2nd to the last pic... mukhang nasa ilalim ng fireworks yung crowd.... prang scripted yung post...
thanks! im not sure if you think being scripted is by mentioning presenters of the pyro. its my own words naman
