From Laoag, we head our way to Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. Before heading to Saud Beach where we planned to stay, we still have time to check some famous destination in Ilocos Norte.
First Stop: Burgos Lighthouse / Cape Bojeador Lighthouse
Second Stop: Kapurpurawan Rock Formation

TIP: For those who's been here before, try to go here right after a typhoon and you'll never regret it. The waves are much stronger and like me, you'll love it more.

First Stop: Burgos Lighthouse / Cape Bojeador Lighthouse
This is the highest lighthouse in the Philippines estimated around 160 meters above sea level. Located in Burgos, Ilocos Norte, it was declared a National Historical Landmark on August 13, 2004 (birth day ko pa!). Going at the top of the lighthouse is already prohibited, for safety as the construction is becoming weak. I was able to reach its top way back in 2008 and I must say I was afraid (forgive my fear of heights) because some parts were totally open and the wind is blowing too hard on us (due to the after typhoon effect).

Second Stop: Kapurpurawan Rock Formation
Also in Burgos, Kapurpurawan rock formation is one of the most precious places to see in Pagudpud. The combination of the wind and huge waves coming from South China Sea later formed a hill of beautiful white limestone rock . You still need to walk for 15 to 20 minutes but getting here is so worth it. I can stay here for a day if given a chance. Our guide told us that it is best viewed during sunset as it creates a golden color when the sun strikes Kapurpurawan.

Third Stop: Pagudpud Town Proper
It's already 630pm when we got back to Kuya Arnel's van and it's almost an hour ride going to Pagudpud. We don't have any food yet so Kuya Arnel suggested we could drop by at Pagudpud town proper to buy something for our dinner. I called Ate Cathy if she can cook rice for us (Kuya Arnel suggested it too hehe) and thankfully she was very helpful indeed especially in hungry times like this haha.
There are few sari sari stores available at the town proper and some barbecue stands so we bought some noodles, barbeque, and Pagudpud's local version of Ilocos empanada (ingredients: cabbage, longganiza, and egg).
Fourth Stop: Cathy's Homestay in Saud Beach
At last, we reached Ate Cathy's homestay, we were tired and hungry from our second day and what we needed is a place where we can eat and rest.
Cathy's homestay is one of few homestay accomodation in Pagudpud. There are plenty of resorts available but we're on a tight budget the reason why I chose it. Our room has three queen-sized bedroom, and Ate Cathy lend us extra mattress free of charge. The room has aircondition too with private cr. There are tables available outside to eat and you can also borrow utensils from them. It is located in Saud Beach, near Terra Rikka resort but the front is not swimmable (I'll post picture on my next post), you might need to walk few meters from it.

The kapurpurawan rock formation are great for photo sessions... the formation are unique and I agree sunset is the best time to see it.

I'm one of the lucky people pala to go up Cape Bojeador.. last January 2011 na nagpunta kami they still allow guests to come up.. That time sobrang lakas ng hangin at naimagine kong tangayin ng hangin ung tuktok mismo.. kasama ako.. haha.. creepy yun.. pero the view on top is just priceless.. :)
ask ko lang kong pwede mag stay sa light house? may accommodation din ba dun para kasing maganda mag stay kahit 1 day lang.
