hello. my 10 yr old son and I are going to ilocos this feb. laoag airport kami ng midnight ng friday.. can you suggest kung saan kami mag stay ng gabi sa laoag and kung uunahin ba namin puntahan ang vigan ng saturday o pagudpud muna kami ng saturday tapos monday pag pauwi na kami dadaan sa vigan.

adventurousfeet said...

are you planning to take the bus when coming from Manila? if yes, go to Pagudpud first, then Vigan.

If you're planning to buy a lot of pasalubong, i suggest to make Vigan your last stop.

Anonymous said...

plane kami from manila to laoag. dating kami laoag ng 11pm. balik kami manila via plane ng 6pm ng feb 13.

this may be too much to ask, but can you tell me an itinerary na we can follow to save money. nagtitipid eh.

thank you very much!!!

adventurousfeet said...

@anonymous

kaw ba ung nasa email? already replied :)

Anonymous said...

hi adventurous!

this is jamie again.
badly need your advice. planning vigan was prety easy (especially with the help of your blog) but I'm having a hard time with laoag and pagudpud especially that:
1) i don't have a map
2) can't afford a v-hire since we're just two travelling

need help in laoag area:
number of days: 2 days
Saturday - Vigan
Sunday - Laoag (back to Manila at 8:40pm flight)

Laoag sites we want to see:
A) Marcos in Batac, Malacanang of the North, Paoay Church, Sinking Bell Tower, La Paz Sand Dunes
B) Bangui Windmills, Cafe Bojeador Lighthouse and Kapurpurawan Rock Formation

Is this possible all in one day and no van, just commute? I can give up the museums and churches in Laoag just not the windmills, lighthouse, and rock formation

please please... thanks!

Anonymous said...

i've been there for the third time. usually we spend 1 week to stay there. pero honestly kaya un ng whole day lang.. sa laoag half day lng namen natapos yun as in lahat na napunthan namen, magstart kayo as early as u can, cguro mga 7am ng sunday, then mas earlier kayo matapos mas better.. wag kayo sumakay sa ordinary bus from laoag papauntang pagudpud kase it will take so long,, nagstop-over kase sila para mag-antay ng pasahero.. mauubos oras nyo dun. then pagnasa pagudpud na kayo, rent a tricycle, itotour nya kayo. unahin nyo un rock formation sa tatlo, kase mejo dami nyo pagdadaanan don mahirap aabutan ng ganon ka hapon, sa lighthouse ang next then sa windmills.. happy trip. i hope makatulong to somehow

Anonymous said...

i am also going there on Feb 10-13. i am with my 11 yr old kid. dalawa lang kami kaya hindi namin afford ang gastos ng van. GOOD QUESTION!!! pano tayo makakatipid na mapupuntahan natin lahat. ANYONE PLEASE??

kelan ba dating niyo dun? sabay na lang tayo if you want.

Anonymous said...

in case anyone who visits this blog plans to go to ilocos trip on 2/10-1/13, text me. 09228446136. nagahhanap ako ng ka share sa gastos. nyahahah.

thank you adventurousfeet!!!!

adventurousfeet said...

There are tricycles available in Pagudpud for 2-3 persons only. I went to pagudpud last 2008 and because we're just two, we only rent a trike for a day in Pagudpud. As you can see in Vigan, we just tour via trike. And in laoag, better choose the places you wanted to see, so you can plan how to get there via commute. :)

adventurousfeet said...

hehe! sana may makabasa nga! enjoy!

Anonymous said...

hi anonymous! hope its not too late but we'll be in laoag on feb 11-14, 2012. pwede ba kami makishare sa gastos kc 2pax lang din kmi (with my hubby) and it really is too much for their van tour going pagudpud.

Anonymous said...

hey. guess what? we still do not have an itinerary but we are surely going. we are arriving at laoag airport on feb 10 arnd 8pm. then we are heading to pagudpud by feb 11 arnd 3pm after visiting laoag nd vigan. do you have the same iti as ours? my number 09228775153...

adventurous feet - aus para kang facebook at twitter ha. you are becoming a bridge now. heheh.. good job!!!

Anonymous said...

hi good pm ok kaya pumunta sa vigan-laoag-pagudpud during holy week? thanks

adventurousfeet said...

make sure to book transpo/accomodation when going there during holy week. I think it is known that holiday means a lot of people. As long as you can manage staying for avacation in a crowded place then there's no problem about it:)

Anonymous said...

very helpful! Thanks for all the info. will consider all your advices here once we get there :)

I LOVE travel blogs like yours, they're insanely helpful (and makes my mental places-I-have-to-visit-before-I-die list grow even longer)! My college friends and I went to Ilocos last February over a long weekend (because profs canceled classes one Monday; talk about excellent timing!) and found your blog post REALLY helpful when we were figuring out our itinerary for the 3-day trip. It was my first time visiting Ilocos (and traveling with friends) and we had a great trip, too. Thanks so much and I'm looking forward to reading about your future travels! :)

pwede po mag.ask ng advice adventurous feet? i really like your whole itinerary.
me and my friends will be visiting vigan, laoag and pagudpud next year feb 2013. pero we have problems with our itinerary po.

FEB 16 po we'll be arriving sa manila at 6am so we decided to stay tagaytay lng muna for the whole day. then take the bus to laoag at the night.

do you think po kaya namin in 1 day and tatlong lugar(vigan, laoag, pagudpud)? because by night on Feb 17 we have to be back sa manila na (by bus pa rin).
give us suggestions nmn po on what we need to do aside from booking a flight from laoag to manila, ehhehe(where on a strict budget din po).

we are from cebu pala., thank you po.

Unknown said...

We offer an affordable Van Rental for Vigan-Laoag-Pagudpud trip please kindly contact us at 09178473273.

adventurousfeet said...

naku may pagkatiring pala ang gagawin nyo.. honestly, parang di po kaya libutin ang vigan-laoag-pagudpud ng 1 whole day lang. you're going by bus that means you'll just commute as soon as you arrived in ilocos right? vigan is 2hrs(more or less) away from laoag, laoag is 2hrs(more or less) away from pagudpud. so that means sa byahe pa lang kakainin na ang oras nyo. :(

if you really want to go to ilocos, i guess you need to realize you'll only see a part of it.

Anonymous said...

Feb 18, 8pm po ang flight namin going back to cebu.

Our original plan is:
Feb 16: am: Tagaytay
pm: Take bus going to laoag
Feb 17 am: laoag, vigan, pagudpud
pm: take a last trip bus going back to manila
feb 18 am : manila nlng kami
pm: go back home to cebu

ehehe,
is it possible to drop off first sa vigan from manila?
then by 12 noon we could go to laoag,
5 pm we could go to pagudpud.
and take the last trip bus going back to manila?

Anonymous said...

Unknown said...

Hello adventurousfeet. Super like ko IT nyo, big help for us because we are planning to have our Ilocos tour this Nov.13-17, 2012. we are 4 in a group. i would like to ask if is it really necessary to secure a bus ticket reservation heading to vigan and what bus would you recommend to us?

Anonymous said...

Hello po kuya i am very interested in your post super help sya for my plan to tour around vigan, laoag & pagudpod... ano ba ang best? yung may agency ka o yung sa sarili mo lang talaga na way? we are 4 people with 1 toddler 2years old. we are hoping to save more at the same time hindi sya gaanong hassle din.. thank u so much! appreciated sa reply mo po...BabyG

adventurousfeet said...

Hi,

Sorry i missed this comment. Anyway, I heard Partas bus directly talaga sa Vigan City. We took the Florida Bus because of the sleeper bus. It dropped us at Bantay Church, trike away from Vigan City proper.

adventurousfeet said...

To save more I guess you need to do it yourself. Kung ayaw mo naman ng hassle and you want everything to run smoothly, of course you hire a travel tour agency for your trip. I guess kung ayaw mo mapamahal, plan your IT well & booked your accomodation agad.

Thanks for sharing! I'll surely take note of the items here. Will be up north on January and I want it to be perfect as the trip will be a gift for my parents. :)

Hi, me and my boyfriend are planning to go to Ilocos this January 24 to 28, 2013 for our 2nd Anniversary. I hope you don't mind if we use your itinerary. It's so nice kasi, I have a lot of friends who already went to Ilocos pero mas complete yung sayo.

Just want to say thank you so much for your valuable blog.

hello.kagagaling lang namin sa vigan-laoag-pagudpud trip.nauwi kami last monday. i so love ilocos. vigan was awesome.other places like hidden garden, baluarte, etc. was spectacular.laoag was also cool. but bangui windmill was the best. sinunod namin lahat ng places ng sa iterinary mo...dto na kami nag base kasi mga firstimer kami(firtimer dn sa manila).hehe.napuntahan namin lahat except sa burgos musuem kasi under renovation. pati ang sa marcos museum.under renovation dn kasi mag pipyesta by sunday.eh saturday kami pumunta dun sa museum.. :( but at least weve been there..marcos mosoleum was scary.hindi ko kinayanan yung awra sa loob.sumakit talaga ulo ko dun.... we met also kuya arnel and his brother (driver) kuya nelson. they were so nice with us.and of course ate cathy.hehehe.nakalibre kami ng breakfast.apat lang kasi naman kami....
660 each.

and oh, the kabigan falls was so cold.like 0 degrees na ata yun.lol.exagge....

thank you sa iyong blog.matagan na naming magbabarkada gusto pumunta talaga dito..kala namin ay yung calle crisologo lang ang mayroon dun.hehehe..marami pala.buti nlng at na search ko tong blog na to.again thank you..i was not able to read the other spots na napuntahan nyo.for sure, kukuha dn ako ng mga tips doon.ok ba?..hehehe

next destination namin ay BAGUIO.weeeeee..

tnx again

adventurousfeet said...

Hi rregy thanks for the comment. I highly appreciate it, thanks for sharing your trip for everyone to see! I had to skip juan luna museum, limited lang kasi time namin specially kung napapatagal kami sa 1 spot. Balikan ko next time :) On my 2nd visit bawal na nga talaga umakyat sa lighthouse, too bad to hear about kapurpurawan, favorite place ko pa naman yun.

rregy14 said...

P1100 for 3 person.additional mattress is 175. apat kami so bale P1275 lang nabayaran namin. kay ate cathy's homestay naman.

adventurousfeet said...

Hello Adventurous Feet,

I have been eyeing this blog post for months already because i have always wanted to go to ilocos esp vigan. But I would very much appreciate your advice. Here's the thing. I'm a mom who will be traveling with my preschool son for the very first time with just the two of us and from cebu using your itinerary. Would you recommend the tour for us? I really want to experience the kind of freedom and sense of responsibility that this trip would give me, not to mention the bonding experience with my son through adventure. BUT BUT BUT I have TWO concerns: first is SAFETY and second are PARANORMAL ENCOUNTERS. For the former, I think it's safe but I could really use some specific tips for a woman who is navigating a new place on her own while keeping her eyes on her child at all times while enjoying the trip(talk about multitasking). For the latter, yah I really can't afford to faint and pass out on my son in a place where we don't know anyone just because of a multo. I know it sounds silly but yeah. LOL :-)

I hope to hear from you. Thank you and keep up the sharing of your wonderful experiences! You are an inspiration to those who love to travel!

adventurousfeet said...

Ilocos is a safe place indeed.. you're right you need to multitask with your child around. As for the paranormal, if you have a third eye maybe you could avoid staying in old houses in vigan. Just stay in a normal typical hotel/hostel.

i think your child would enjoy baluarte because of the animals.

enjoy your future trip :)
let me know your story after :)

thank you for your kind words :)

Hi. i enjoyed your blog so much. Me and my hubby are planning to celebrate our 1st anniv this way like what your barkada did. i was wondering if the van you rented can tour the whole place. i would love to hear from you again. we are planning to go on May 22, is it okay? i mean considering the weather?:-) thanks in advance!

adventurousfeet said...

hi abby thank you for reading my blog. of course the van can tour ilocos you can just follow our it or if you have your own places of preferences, that will do. I wish I know the weather on that day but I don't. Anything can happen so just go for it! Happy anniv and enjoy! sorry for my late response, kinda busy these days lang po :)

Thank you so much! This blog had been very helpful during our trip this May. We followed your itinerary exactly as it is. Plus we got a hassle-free tour due to our tour guide/driver. I strongly suggest to secure your own transpo in Laoag and Pagudpud. The tourist spots were quite distant from each other. To those who's interested in hiring a van, just beep Kuya Macco (09182676922) and you'll never get lost in Ilocos. He's one of the best drivers in town.
