At the heart of the island's district lies a beautiful destination not just for tourists but also a hit with the locals -the Hagimit Falls. This is our last stop in Samal Island, nonetheless, it is worthy and lovely.
Hagimit Falls |
The beauty of this place is that, it is composed of small waterfalls cascading continously. Different spots here is very much enjoyable, both for swimmers and non-swimmers like me hehe.
Take a dip at the cold water of Hagimit falls.
Picnic lunch.
Massage your back with the cascading falls!
There are travel groups in Davao that offers rapelling in this falls.
One of the things you'll enjoy in this falls is the storng current of water that feels like a great massage! We lend our camera to Kuya Jojo, and he eagerly took our pictures almost anywhere!
feel the massage the falls style :) |
Our habal-habal driver/tour guide Kuya Jojo led us to his favorite part, where he can fall asleep everytime he and his friends visit Hagimit Falls. We tried it too and almost fall asleep haha. The current of water here is not that strong and anyone can sit or lie to its' wet grounds.
sleeping grounds |
After swimming, Kuya Jojo tour us to where the falls is coming from. Be careful on the big rocks ahead of you.
let's go up high! |
finally reached it! |
Hagimit Falls is located in the middle of Samal Island, near the public market of PeƱaplata. You may read part 6 (http://adventurousfeet.blogspot.com/2010/09/part6-davao-experience-guide-to-samal.html) of this blog if you want to know how to reach Samal Island. There are buses from Davao City that will reach PeƱaplata district and from there, you may take a habal-habal or motorcycle costing less Php50.00. There's a small walk few minutes away from the entrance gate.
Entrance Fee Day Tour: Php 30.00
Picnic tables/cottages can be rented here for a small price for those who wanted to have a picnic lunch.
Communal comfort room is also available for changing clothes after swimming.
Our Samal Island day tour is admirable. There are many things to explore to this island that someday I could check as well. There's another island called Talicud that is worth to explore too. Our drivers/tour guide drop us to the main road and then we wait another bus to Davao City.
You may want to check these too!

hi not sure if there is
This is such a nice place I've been here once and its not expensive, the place is like a mini lagoon with clear and cold water very fascinating.. I do hope they preserve the beauty of Hagimit Falls. Samal is very interesting Island with lots of beautiful beaches along the white shore and very rich in natural corals deep down the sea. Samal island is very popular in Davao City! Highly promotes tourism.
Its such a shame that I'm just in Davao but haven't been to Hagimit falls yet, ugh! It looks really pretty, must make an effort to visit soon. Thanks for sharing.
