Part7: The Davao Experience: Monfort Bat Cave in Samal Island

Our first stop in Samal Island is the Monfort Bat Cave. There's a minimal entrance fee which is more or less Php 20.00.  This is not your usual caving experience that would go inside and explore.  What I enjoyed here is seeing lots of bats I haven't encountered in my life. Located in the upper part of the island, it can be reached by riding a motorbike (habal-habal) for commuters or through private vehicles.

Isn't it great to know that monfort bat cave is said to house one of the largest colony of fruit bats in the whole world, with approximately 1.8 million population? Something to be proud of!

If you're looking for more adventure, try to get here around 5PM. Entrance fee will be doubled but the catch here is that bats tend to go and fly around the sky during late afternoon. May sound creepy but fun! :)
